Frequently Asked Questions.

What can you do for me?

I know what you’re thinking! Let’s get down to brass tacks.

I provide value by helping you seize the present and reach for a future you want. Exactly what that is depends on you, your unique background, and what stands in your way, but coaching is often a transformative experience, and that is because I follow a specific protocol and method to get you results.

How does coaching work?

When we begin working together, we will begin by designing a plan together to get you where you want to go. This will include de facto confidentiality, your thoughts on how I can be your ideal coach, and any other aspects of our “alliance” as coach and client. We will also discuss how you want to be held accountable to stick with your plan, because, in the coaching world, we like to say that “without accountability, coaching is little more than a nice conversation”.

Do you offer a free sample session and what would we talk about in it?

Yes. Typically these calls are 15 minutes, so we can quickly see if we are a good fit to work together. Coaching is a highly interpersonal undertaking, so whoever you choose to be your coach, make sure they offer a complimentary call to see if there is chemistry. In these calls, we assess what you are experiencing now, where you want to go, and why coaching may – or may not – be the right way to help you get there. If it appears that a coaching engagement is in order, then we will discuss your budget, availability, timetable, and negotiate pricing.

What will we talk about in coaching?

As above, this depends on you and your unique needs. It might be conversations about how to improve your relationships, get a better job, start a business, manage feelings of inadequacy, finish a big project, or find meaning and purpose, and thus, motivation.

How do we meet and how often?

Typical engagements are six to ten 45-minute sessions spanning several months, depending on our mutual availability and your timetable for achieving the goals you set for yourself. My clients typically choose to meet via ZOOM or phone. Local clients also choose in-person options, including coaching during nature walks or leisurely hikes. Our first and last sessions together are 2x as long as other meetings. I aim to accommodate all interested clients, irrespective of financial means, because I believe that the chance to change your life and amplify your career should be affordable for everyone. Please get in touch if you have questions.

What is the difference between coaching and therapy?

Therapy is a great opportunity to learn about many aspects of your life and psyche, including and especially how you became who you are, which can then be leveraged to help you change the things about yourself that want to change. By contrast, coaching is more forward-looking, as it aims to focus on what we can control about the here-and-now so we can create the future you want to live in.  Both “work”, and one might suggest that both are excellent investments in yourself, but in the minds of many coaches and therapists, they serve different purposes.

How are you different from other coaches?

To my coaching practice I bring 20+ years of professional experience in higher education, human resources, and corporate training, as well as advanced degrees and certificates that give me unique insight into the human condition. As importantly, though, I have myself battled imposter syndrome, and have come out the other side with a sense of confidence that is borderline bulletproof. As a few examples, I have started my own business, I know what it takes to complete big projects, I know how to push myself to learn new things, and I am not afraid to face my fears and “put myself out there”, even when I am downright scared!

As far as my temperament, I am thoughtful, analytical, creative, and most of all kind and caring. My welcoming and empathetic approach gives clients the safe space they need to get clarity on their goals, and my ability to challenge clients gives them the opportunity to grow in an authentic yet accelerated way.

Above all, I am passionate about helping people grow, and I am here to serve you.
